Planting Instructions

Plant after last frost threat and as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Prepare beds with rich, well-drained soil amended with compost if needed (pH 5.5-6.5 ideal). Trim any damaged roots to healthy tissue. Plant bare-root crowns with the crown precisely at soil level—not buried (which causes rot) and not exposed (which dries out roots). Fan roots out in planting hole and firm soil around them to eliminate air pockets. Space plants 12-18 inches apart in rows 24-36 inches apart for good air circulation. Water immediately after planting and keep soil consistently moist (not waterlogged) throughout the growing season. Apply balanced fertilizer monthly during active growth. Mulch with to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and keep berries clean. Remove flowers the first 4-6 weeks after planting to encourage strong root development. Renovate plants after harvest by mowing or cutting back foliage to 1 inch above crowns.
